Our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have been accepted the UPSC Civil Services New Pattern 2013 which concentrates mainly on the weightage of Non Optional Subjects. By comparing the stats of other states, there might be an increase in number of general studies papers and it would be estimated as 4. It is a prominent examination conducted once a year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the whole committee recommended this UPSC new pattern 2013 by considering few factors.

However, all these changes will make candidates to feel tensed about the forthcoming civil exam. More than 3.3 lakh candidates all over country are eagerly waiting for the confirmation regarding UPSC Civil Services New Pattern 2013. Selected candidates are appointed in 3 all India Services like Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) besides the scores of Group A services. We got some serious reasons that tend the committee to look after for changes.

Why UPSC Changed its Pattern?

In the present scenario, Subjects of Mains in Civil Service examination has been divided into two categories like Scoring and Non Scoring. Almost every candidate who is applying for Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Exam is opting to Scoring Subjects like Public Administration, Polity and Sociology etc by leaving their Non Scoring Subjects which were studied in their qualifying degree.

So, UPSC decided to make some changes in the upcoming test by introducing some compulsory papers to prepare in. However, it should be declared officially with a press notice. We are expecting a notification in upcoming days mentioning all the critical changes that are done to the current examination pattern and is notified through the UPSC Website. .

Actually, Union Public Service Commission have to announce the current year bulletin on Feb 2, 2013. But due to some circumstances it is postponed and within few days there would be a notification including new pattern of UPSC civil services exam.
Will Optional Subjects Continue?
No official statement came out on the topic of this issue. But there might be one optional subject for sure and marks will be condensed to 500. There is a probability of including a mandatory field to select the subject for mains while taking a degree admission.

  1. This is not the case .... My Uncle works in UPSC and he has said that the pattern will be :

    GS - 4 * 250 = 1000 Marks
    English + Essay = 300 Marks
    Civil Services Aptitude - Case Based Decision Making Questions = 200 Marks

    Total = 1500 Marks

  3. It tests only your aptitude.You dont have to prepare very nuch for it.All you need is quick and a creative brain.Moreover, the test is in objective with a negative marking for wrong answers.
