Overview of the IBPS exam
The IBPS that is the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection exam enables a candidate who has cleared it to apply for a job in almost 19 banks all across the country. All the banks that accept the score of this exam are public sector banks. In the recent past, certain other companies such as IDBI, ECGC and their likes have started accepting the scores that a candidate gets in this exam, for the position of an officer.

Eligibility Criteria for IBPS Bank PO Exam

If a person wishes to appear for the bank PO exam that is conducted by the IBPS, there are certain eligibility criteria that he/she will need to fulfill, first.
  • The candidate must have completed his/her graduation in any stream from a university that is recognized by the Government of India.
  • The candidate must not be below 20 years of age, nor must he/she be above 30 years of age at the time of filling in the application form.
  • There is a relaxation that has been made for OBC candidates as they can be up to 35 years of age when filling in the application form.
  • Also, candidates who are working for the PWD get a 10 year relaxation.
Pattern of the exam paper
The examination has two parts, that is an objective and a descriptive part. First there is the objective test that has a time duration of 150 minutes and the total marks that of the paper is 225. The examinee is tested on various subjects and they have been mentioned below.

  2. General Awareness with Banking Awareness
  3. General English
  4. Computer Literacy and Critical Reasoning
After the completion of this paper, the descriptive paper is held and it lasts for a period of 1 hours. The paper carries 25 marks. In this section the examinee is tested on his linguistic skills, and thus, there are essays, reports etc that need to be written in English. This paper is evaluated if and only the examinee has managed to clear the objective paper.
