The aim of this project is to develop a billing solution for Energy consumption just like pre-paid taxi, mobile phone, petro card etc. This project deals with access card based electricity prepaid billing system for domestic power billing and transaction. In this project access card technology is used for reading of power consumption and updating the consumed units and available units at Consumer point.
The design procedure involves a access card unit which holds the no of billing units available for the consumer. This access card unit is connected to Embedded processor to measure the energy consumption. The second unit is Energy meter unit which is built using ADE 7757 from Analogue Devices.
In this the current is sensed through an analogue sensing circuit. The out put of the sensing circuit is given to a combination of analogue and digital circuitry whose out put is given to the micro controller. The total no of units consumed is displayed on a LCD, which is interfaced to the micro controller. The advantage is that is tamper proof, which is a huge problem with the existing meters.
